Abstract
As the number of Korean travelers going to foreign countries has been increasing every year, the risk of imported infectious diseases has also been increasing. Accordingly, having appropriate preventive measures before traveling abroad becomes very important. To investigate knowledge, attitude, and practice of Korean travelers on infectious disease prevention, a questionnaire-based study was conducted with 1,694 travelers from 3 different travel clinics.
According to data analyzed from 1,641 respondents, more than half of the travelers gathered their travel information from internet search engines, blogs, etc. On the contrary, they rarely used KCDC or travel information/medicine websites.
Since most information from the internet is based on individual's experience or rumor, quality control of information is very challenging. To provide accurate information on infectious disease prevention to travellers, policy making or promotion of government-run websites and travel medicine clinic should be implemented for widespread public use.
